The Cape Girardeau Public School District is seeking a dedicated Social Studies Teacher for Central Academy for the 2025-26 academic year.
The Social Studies Teacher is responsible for working to develop in each student an appreciation of worldwide ideals and cultural heritage and to encourage students to develop sound opinions based on the study of facts concerning the operation of social, political, and economic systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Social Studies, Grades 5-9
- Preference is given to candidates with a Master’s Degree in Social Studies in order to teach dual-credit courses as adjunct university faculty and/or Advanced Placement courses in conjunction with the College Board
- Skilled in human relations, leadership, and conflict management
- Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of all students
- Sensitivity to the developmental stages and well-being of all students
- Proficiency in computer hardware and software, including word processing, spreadsheets, multimedia presentations, e-mail, internet, digital media, and instructional delivery systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities
