The CIS should appreciate the benefits of information systems that extend beyond technology to the improvement and re-engineering of clinical processes and be able to help realize those benefits. The role will require a capacity to balance information systems requirements within resource constraints. This will include working with Senior Management to prioritize and revise plans on a regular basis, managing resources judiciously, and operating within budget. Finally, the individual should be committed to educating and empowering all users of information systems. Able to create and disseminate educational offerings that optimize learning for a variety of learning styles. Able to apply knowledge of adult learning theory. Knowledge of evidence-based practice and clinical practice standards. Able to provide leadership and promote change in a positive manner that supports all employees.
