Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) to join our primary care practice as a Medical Billing & Coding Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for an international physician to gain hands-on experience in the U.S. healthcare system. Training will be provided on-site, with a focus on medical billing, coding, and administrative processes in a primary care setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with medical coding using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Review patient charts and documentation to ensure accurate billing
- Support claim submission, tracking, and follow-up with insurance companies
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Identify and correct billing discrepancies or denials
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient and billing records
- Collaborate with providers and administrative staff to ensure compliance
- Learn and apply U.S. healthcare billing regulations and guidelines
Qualifications:
- Medical degree from a foreign institution (FMG/IMG)
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical concepts
- Bilingual (English and Spanish preferred)
- Interest in healthcare administration, billing, and coding
- Willingness to learn and be trained on U.S. billing systems
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Basic computer proficiency (EMR/EHR experience is a plus)
- Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior exposure to medical billing or coding (not required)
- Familiarity with ICD-10 or CPT coding systems
- Experience in a clinical or healthcare setting
