POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for performing QC activities which ensure consistent food safety and product quality of all LOTUS Pet Food products produced. Inspects products within the production facility to ensure high quality and compliance with company standards and procedures. Must be able to rotate between all production lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Visually inspects packaging, coding of finished products
- Takes weights of finished product
- Verifies the quality of the product
- Collects samples from all operating lines for each batch
- Collects samples of incoming raw materials and verifies quality
- Perform line checks every 5 and 15 minutes
- Conduct and document audits
- Responds appropriately to quality issues
- Perform direct observations
- Verify all batch paperwork including ingredients, weights, cooks, and labels
- Be a proactive participant in identifying potential issues in all phases of operations
- Develop and maintain lines of communication between QC, production and management to ensure that all are kept informed of issues found, corrective actions taken and any changes that have taken place
- Hands on involvement in all Food Safety/Quality problems that arise during shift and developing appropriate solutions and corrective/preventative actions
- Perform QC activities which ensure consistent food safety and product quality of all products produced
- Perform daily tear down and measurement of can seams
- Enter QC results into Excel spreadsheets and FOSS machine
- Acquire Better Processing Control certification
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand
- Required to frequently walk
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, varying temperatures including extreme cold, heat, and vibration
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
- This individual will also be cross - trained to support functions such as consumer customer service and order entry processing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Must be at least 18 years of age to apply
- High school or GED required
- BS in Food Safety, Nutritional Science or another related field preferred
- 6 months experience as a quality technician in a food manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- HACCP training preferred
- Ability to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers
- Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide and understand percentages
- Good writing, mathematics, analytical, note taking, and critical thinking skills
- Computer literate in Excel, Word and database applications
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
