After-School Sports Coach (Lead & Assistant Coach) K-5th Grade
Sports: Basketball & Track & Field. Volleyball may be included soon.
Locations: San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, and New Braunfels, TX
Join the CenTex Youth Sports team and help make a positive impact on elementary-aged students through sports!
We are hiring Lead Coaches and Assistant Coaches for our after-school sports programs located at elementary schools throughout San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, and New Braunfels.
Our programs serve Kindergarten through 5th grade students and focus on building confidence, teaching fundamentals, promoting teamwork, and creating a fun, positive environment.
Schedule
- Flexible scheduling
- Programs are held after school
- Each coaching session is 1 hour
- Multiple coaching opportunities may be available throughout the week
Position Overview
Lead Coach
Ideal for individuals with previous coaching experience who are confident leading practices, managing groups of students, and creating an engaging learning environment.
Assistant Coach
Perfect for individuals looking to gain coaching experience while working alongside an experienced lead coach. This role provides opportunities for growth and advancement within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Teach basic fundamentals in Basketball or Track & Field. (Volleyball if intrested)
- Create a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for all students.
- Lead fun drills, games, and skill-development activities.
- Help students improve through instruction, encouragement, and individualized feedback.
- Supervise students and ensure their safety throughout the program.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, school staff, and fellow coaches.
- Assist with organizing practices and other program activities.
- Set up, maintain, and store sports equipment before and after each session.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, and confidence among participants.
Qualifications
- Experience playing or coaching basketball or track & field preferred.
- Passion for working with children and helping young athletes grow.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and encourage students of varying skill levels.
- Childcare, teaching, camp, mentoring, or youth coaching experience is a plus.
- Reliable transportation to assigned school locations.
Lead Coach Expectations
Lead coaches are responsible for overseeing each program and ensuring sessions run smoothly.
Lead coaches are expected to:
- Arrive 10–15 minutes before each session begins.
- Lead instruction and demonstrate proper coaching techniques.
- Adapt coaching methods to students of all skill levels and experience levels.
- Address behavioral or safety concerns appropriately.
- Ensure every student is safely picked up by an authorized parent or guardian before leaving the school site.
- Maintain a positive, organized, and professional coaching environment.
