What are the responsibilities and job description for the Centex Materials RMX - Aggregate Hauler position at Centex Materials?
Competitive Pay - $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
Primary responsibility is to deliver raw materials from local aggregate quarries to end user. This takes place in a variety of settings and conditions including uneven ground, and may require physical labor. The Aggregate Haul Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the tractor trailer truck used for delivery of raw materials to customers.
Primary Duties
- Operate a commercial vehicle in a safe and professional manner.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; assure the vehicle is in safe condition to operate on the roadways.
- Communicate with customers and co-workers in a professional manner.
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Comply with all company policies, OSHA and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, be knowledgeable of the rules and regulations and stay up to date with the latest changes in policies and regulations.
- Practice safety at all times, wear PPE and report any unsafe conditions or acts immediately.
- Operate equipment on truck to load, unload in a safe and efficient manner.
- Read a ticket and map book and plan the safest most direct routes.
- Inspect jobsite for hazards upon arrival of jobsite - GOAL (Get Out and Look).
- Clean truck in a safe and efficient manner after loading & unloading to prevent loose raw material from becoming a road hazard.
- Follow reasonable instructions from co-workers, supervisors and members of management team.
- Perform other duties as instructed by supervisor & management team. (This includes the operation of Ready Mix Trucks)
Other Duties
- This is moderately strenuous work. The driver must climb in and out of the truck as many as 20 times each day.
- Many trucks have manual transmissions with a clutch.
- Periodically, the driver must wash his/her truck with a hose and a brush. The washing procedure requires a fair amount of climbing on the truck.
- Must pass DOT (Department of Transportation) physical as well as federally mandated alcohol and drug testing requirements
- Must be able to perform other tasks as directed by Management (Including the operation of other company owned commercial vehicles)
Environmental Conditions
- Majority of work is performed outdoors.
- Exposure to elements of weather to include extremes in heat, humidity, cold, dust and moisture for extended periods.
- Occasionally/frequently exposed to rough, muddy and icy surface conditions.
- Intermittent exposure to high noise levels and truck vibration.
- Frequent exposure to cement, concrete, admixtures, dust, diesel fuel, and other substances that may cause burns, be toxic or explosive if handled incorrectly.
- Frequently exposed to water and wet conditions.
