CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Director of Enterprise Architecture to join our Information Technology Team, located in Houston, Texas.
You will have the ability to set the overall technology architecture vision, while understanding the impact of the business and IT strategy on the enterprise.
This role will drive policies, practices, and standardization to simplify the architectural landscape across the organization.
Additionally, the role will also develop a point of view on technology impacts to new business models or revenue streams and provide perspectives to the
business around emerging technologies for consideration by executive leadership. The position will include overseeing direct reports to support
the accomplishment of Enterprise Architecture objectives. This role leads the overall Enterprise Architecture group in ensuring common architecture
decisions are implemented supporting the business and IT strategy. Enterprise-wide collaboration is necessary to assure alignment and interoperability
of application data, integration and infrastructure solutions while overseeing the development of solution and technology roadmaps.
The incumbent will have an advanced understanding of IT industry trends and enterprise architectures.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Define and establish the Enterprise Architecture strategy, roadmap, and standards based on business / IT needs
- Define and drive the technology roadmap for IT infrastructure, applications, and data management to support current and future business needs
- Oversee and ensure that architecture decisions are aligned with Enterprise Architecture standards and consistent across the enterprise, and leverage opportunities for common approaches
- Enable enterprise efforts to define solutions that are aligned with business goals, IT strategy, and enterprise architecture standards
- Oversee effort to analyze IT industry and market trends and determine potential impact upon enterprise
- Oversee efforts across the enterprise to review and provide input on proposals from an architectural perspective, including feasibility, practicality, technical viability, and consistency
- Oversee the management and maintenance of architectural assets including principles, standards, policies, reference architectures, models, blueprints, roadmaps, frameworks, patterns and services
- Enable the Architecture community to understand the enterprise strategic direction and the architecture strategic direction / priorities, enabling improved decision-making, prioritization of efforts, and alignment to enterprise priorities
- Ensure alignment of organizational processes to architecture requirements and reference models (including functional architecture, conceptual data architecture, application architecture, and infrastructure architecture)
- Establish and execute architecture management processes including the associated governance
- Incorporate continuous feedback, foster design and engineering practices, and drive collaboration around a common vision across domains (functional, application, data, infrastructure
- Establish key indicators of success for Enterprise Architecture function
- Drive enterprise operating and platform model transformation
- Identify and mitigate architectural risks, ensuring the security, reliability, and scalability of IT systems
- Provide input to roadmaps around modernization, data architecture, and the overall Enterprise Architecture Roadmap, allowing CenterPoint to maintain a cohesive path forward architecturally
- Oversee the application landscape to reduce complexity / cost and allow delivery organizations to move towards applications that are emerging or standard
- Recruit, develop and retain a high-performance Enterprise Architecture team that acts as a strategic partner across departments
- Contribute to and enforce technology policies, organization and processes that produce an agile and predictable enterprise environment resulting in reliable and efficient solutions.
- Ensure all Enterprise Architecture standards comply with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., SOX, NERC-CIP, TSA, etc.)
- Serve as a leader of people and support aspects of employee management for a large team, directing work, providing guidance and reinforcing a learning culture with a growth mindset
- Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports, mentor and coach team members
- Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with functional and business unit management, key suppliers, internal and external peers, and appropriate stakeholders
- Manage the interrelationships between business issues, strategies, competitive challenges, and technology solutions
- Direct and manage the development and implementation of departmental strategies, budgets, workforce/talent management plans, and productivity improvement strategies to ensure effective utilization of resources, efficiency of operations, and enhanced customer satisfaction
- Serve as a back up to organizational VP and lead special assignments when needed
- Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Computer Science, engineering, systems analysis, information systems or a related business or technical curriculum.
- Significant experience in Service-oriented architectures (SOAs) and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) architectures
- Ability to fully grasp complex system architectures, including multiple inter-related databases and intricate business rule logic
- Strong knowledge application architecture, API management, technical architecture, application development, middleware design, and information analysis
- Experience leading large scale cross functional teams to ensure EA adherence with IT compliance
- Strong knowledge in platform architecture technologies including security, networks, and virtualization
- Strong knowledge of user-centered design, customer centricity, contextual inquiry, interaction design, information architecture, and usability testing
- Proficiency with desktop productivity and collaboration tools, such as MS 365 suite of products
