What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kids Care Team Member position at Centerpoint Church?
POSITION:
The CP Kids Care Team Member is responsible for providing a safe, loving, and Christ-centered environment where children from infants to 5th grade can laugh, play, and grow in their faith as they learn about Jesus in fun and meaningful ways.
FIT:
We’re looking for energetic, creative, fun-loving individuals (18 years and older) who have experience working with children and a heart for Jesus. The ideal team member is self-motivated, dependable, and committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment while upholding CP Kids policies. A love for kids, a joyful attitude, and a dedication to providing exceptional care, along with a heart for discipling children in their walk with Jesus are essential!! CPR and First Aid certification are a bonus.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The CP Kids Care Team Member will be accountable to the CP Kids Care Manager (KCM)
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
Compensation and time
- This is a part-time, hourly role, starting at $16.50 based on experience, responsibilities, and performance. Shifts vary day to day and are during the week.
SHIFT ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (team members are expected to do either role during a shift):
Teacher Role:
Teaching
- Teach age-appropriate, engaging Bible lessons
- Integrate prayer and spiritual conversations when appropriate
- Creatively engage kids through games, crafts, and interactive learning
Preparation & Classroom Management
- Review lesson materials in advance
- Set up and clean up the classroom before and after service
- Maintain a smooth flow of activities and transitions
Safety & Procedures
- Ensure children’s safety indoors and outdoors
- Follow secure check-in/check-out procedures
- Respond to emergencies according to CP Kids safety protocols
Behavior & Communication
- Redirect children appropriately when behavioral issues arise, using positive guidance techniques
- Communicate effectively with parents about their child’s experience and behavior during the event
- Document and report any incidents or concerns to the CP Kids Care Manager
Teamwork
- Support and guide volunteers and support staff
- Collaborate with the team to create a Christ-centered environment
- Collaborate and support with special events
Supporting Role:
- Assist lead teacher with lessons and activities
- Follow directions with a positive attitude
- Operate classroom technology as needed
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children both inside the classroom and during outside activities
- Engage children through games, crafts, and other age-appropriate activities
- Help with setup, cleanup, and transitions
- Maintain a team-oriented and servant-heart mindset
- Collaborate with the team to create a fun, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment
- Stay flexible and ready to help wherever needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required
- College experience in child development, ministry, or education is a plus (not required)
- 1 years of experience working with children preferred
- CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain within 90 days)

- Must successfully complete a background check and Mandated Reporter training
- Must be a member (or regular attender) of the local church and be in agreement with the values and doctrine of the Free Methodist Church
