We have a brand new full-time and year round role for a candidate that possesses an active CDL-A license due to company growth! The Lead Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of digger derricks and related equipment in support of aerial and underground telecom construction projects. This role acts as a field leader, coordinating daily crew activities, supporting pole line construction, and ensuring all work is performed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with telecom standards and customer requirements.

What You Will Do
- Operate digger derricks, bucket trucks, and other telecom construction equipment safely and efficiently
- Lead and support crew members on aerial fiber builds, including pole setting, transfers, and strand work
- Read and work from prints, staking sheets, and job specs
- Set, remove, and replace poles according to project requirements
- Handle daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance to keep everything job-ready
- Understand and follow load charts, rigging practices, and safe lifting procedures
- Keep the job site clean, organized, and safe
- Communicate with your crew and supervisors to keep work on track
- Help train and guide less experienced team members
- Valid CDL Class A required
- 3–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment, including digger derricks
- Telecom experience (aerial fiber/copper builds) strongly preferred
- Comfortable leading a crew and keeping jobs moving
- Ability to read prints and understand job requirements
- Solid understanding of equipment operation and basic maintenance
- Experience with rigging and safe load handling
- Strong focus on safety and awareness on active job sites
- NCCER or similar certifications are a plus
- Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 40 lbs continuously
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity. Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
