Responsibilities
- Repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions at all hours.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
- Required to work aboard boats and barges using winches and mechanical tools for repairs.
- Frequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor at all hours.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of Cummins, Caterpillar, John Deere Engines.
- Knowledge of EMD and GE engine preferred.
- Knowledge of Twin Disc gears, Barge pumps, PTO’s.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical systems and components.
- Knowledge of the oil transportation and maritime industry.
- Knowledge of tug and barge maintenance systems and equipment.
- Work well with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
- Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port in all weather conditions.
- Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
- Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.
- Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over the telephone.
- Valid state drivers' license.
- Valid TWIC Card or ability to obtain.
- HAZWOPER training within 90 days of being hired.
- AED First Aid and CPR training.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Travel may be involved on certain projects.
- Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision.
- Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)
- Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Takes communications 24 hours a day, including weekends, concerning vessel maintenance, repair, and operations.
