Position Summary

This is not a traditional Chief of Staff position. We are looking for a builder, operator, and problem solver who wants a front-row seat to scaling a company. You'll work directly with the CEO, tackle the organization's most important challenges, lead strategic projects, and help drive execution across the business. If your long-term goal is to become a COO, President, or CEO, this role will provide exposure and responsibility few positions can match.

The Chief of Staff serves as the CEO's right hand, acting as a force multiplier across the organization. This role is designed for a high-capacity individual who thrives in ambiguity, executes with urgency, and can seamlessly move between strategic initiatives and day-to-day operational challenges.

Unlike traditional management roles, this position is not primarily about delegation. It is about ownership, execution, problem-solving, and driving results. The Chief of Staff will be expected to lead critical projects, remove obstacles, hold teams accountable, improve communication across departments, and ensure key initiatives move from concept to completion.

This role provides unparalleled exposure to executive leadership, company strategy, acquisitions, operations, finance, sales, and organizational development, making it an ideal launchpad for future executive leadership positions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Execution

  • Partner directly with the CEO to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Lead high-priority projects from conception through implementation.
  • Track organizational goals and ensure execution against key priorities.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and prepare recommendations for executive decision-making.

Project Leadership

  • Own special projects across operations, sales, finance, technology, and people functions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones.
  • Remove barriers and solve problems before they impact outcomes.
  • Establish timelines, accountability measures, and reporting structures.

Operational Excellence

  • Monitor business performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support operational reviews and executive reporting processes.
  • Assist in developing and implementing scalable systems and processes.
  • Drive follow-through on action items resulting from leadership meetings.

Executive Support

  • Represent the CEO in meetings and discussions when appropriate.
  • Ensure organizational alignment around company priorities.

Leadership Development

  • Build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Assist leaders in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Develop a deep understanding of all areas of the business.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3–10 years of professional experience in operations, consulting, entrepreneurship, project management, military leadership, finance, or related fields.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • High level of personal accountability and ownership.

Preferred

  • Experience in a high-growth company.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Exposure to field service, logistics, industrial services, or multi-location operations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Power BI, and business analytics tools.

Success Measures

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Completion of strategic initiatives on time and within scope.
  • Improvement in organizational execution and accountability.
  • Increased speed of decision-making and project implementation.
  • Enhanced communication and alignment across departments.
  • Measurable business impact resulting from projects led.

Compensation & Growth Opportunity

This role offers a unique pathway into executive leadership. The successful candidate will gain direct exposure to board-level discussions, company strategy, acquisitions, financial management, sales leadership, and operational execution. For ambitious professionals seeking a future COO, President, or CEO track, there is no better seat in the organization.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Who excels in this role?

  • Former entrepreneur who learned how to build and scale a business.
  • Management consultant who wants to stop making PowerPoints and start driving results.
  • Military officer transitioning into business leadership.
  • Operations manager who consistently solves problems outside their job description.
  • High-performing MBA graduate looking for real operating experience.
  • Current project manager frustrated by bureaucracy and eager for ownership.

Personality Traits

  • Relentlessly curious.
  • Bias for action.
  • Extremely organized.
  • Comfortable with chaos and ambiguity.
  • High emotional intelligence.
  • Naturally accountable.
  • Doesn't need recognition to stay motivated.
  • Can switch from boardroom strategy to field-level execution in the same day.

Red Flags

  • Wants to manage people more than solve problems.
  • Needs detailed direction for every task.
  • Struggles with changing priorities.
  • Focuses on titles over impact.
  • Delegates before understanding the work.
