AI & Automation – Private Equity

CenterGate Capital is seeking an individual to join our Value Creation team at the intersection of private equity operations and applied AI. You will identify, design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions and agentic workflows across both the firm's internal operations and our portfolio companies. Working alongside our Data Engineer, you will translate strategic priorities into production-grade systems that reduce costs, accelerate revenue, and build competitive advantages. This is a high-visibility role with regular interaction with portfolio company leadership and CenterGate's investment team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct AI readiness assessments across portfolio companies; identify and prioritize high-ROI opportunities in back-office ops (finance, HR, procurement) and go-to-market (sales, marketing, pricing).
- Design and deploy end-to-end AI workflows from proof-of-concept through production, delivering measurable operating improvements.
- Build a reusable AI playbook of use cases, templates, and implementation guides deployable across new acquisitions.
- Automate internal firm workflows: deal sourcing intelligence, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, LP reporting, and knowledge management.
- Architect data pipelines and integrations with the Data Engineer to support AI workloads at scale.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, the investment committee, and portfolio company boards.
Required Skills & Tools
Core Technical
- Python and SQL for building and integrating production solutions end to end.
- Hands-on LLM application development: prompt engineering, RAG architectures, structured outputs, and evaluation.
- Agentic workflow design with orchestration (e.g., LangGraph); create both scoped agents and multi-agent systems.
- Retrieval and document intelligence via managed, platform-native tooling (Claude Projects, VDRs); a vector store (e.g., Pinecone) when needed.
- Microsoft 365 and Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio), Excel automation, and the ERP and CRM systems LMM companies run.
AI Workflow & Automation Tools
- Agentic and LLM platforms, led by Claude (Anthropic): Projects, Claude Code, the API, and skills; plus OpenAI APIs.
- MCP (Model Context Protocol) for connecting AI systems to enterprise tools and data sources.
- Workflow automation right-sized for LMM operations: n8n, Make (Integromat), Zapier, Microsoft Power Automate.
- Document intelligence for invoices, POs, and contracts via platform-native or cloud OCR (e.g., Azure Document Intelligence, AWS Textract).
- BI and dashboarding for portfolio monitoring and board reporting (Power BI, Tableau); CRM for go-to-market (HubSpot, Salesforce).
- AI-native development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) and production observability (e.g., LangSmith, Langfuse).
- No-code / low-code prototyping (e.g., Relevance AI, Retool AI); coordinate with the Data Engineer on ingestion and transformation (e.g., Airflow / Prefect, Fivetran).
Business Acumen
- Understand PE value creation levers: revenue growth, operational efficiency, tech-enabled transformation.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into prioritized AI roadmaps with clear ROI frameworks.
- Strong executive communication; comfort presenting to C-suite operators and portfolio company boards.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Prior experience in private equity, management consulting, corporate strategy, or applied AI / data science in a fast-paced environment.
- Track record shipping AI workflows that produced measurable outcomes (cost savings, revenue lift, efficiency gains).
- Familiarity with financial modeling, KPI frameworks, and PE portfolio reporting.
