SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Part Time Mentor Coordinator is responsible for working directly with young males residing in the Curwin Circle Housing Development in Lynn, MA. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting a structured mentoring program serving male youth in grades 5–10 who are impacted by father absence.
The Mentor Coordinator focuses on fostering positive youth development, building strong mentor-mentee relationships, and creating a safe, supportive environment that promotes social-emotional growth, accountability, and life skills. This role works closely with youth, mentors, families, and community members to ensure meaningful engagement and program success.
Schedule:
Part time position; includes after-school hours and occasional evenings for program activities and events.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Program Coordination & Implementation
• Plan, organize, and facilitate weekly mentoring sessions and group activities.
• Develop curriculum focused on social-emotional learning, leadership, and life skills.
• Ensure programming is engaging, age-appropriate, and culturally responsive.
• Monitor program participation and maintain accurate attendance records.
Mentor Recruitment & Support
• Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteer mentors.
• Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to mentors.
• Conduct regular check-ins with mentors to ensure consistent engagement.
• Address and troubleshoot mentor-mentee challenges as they arise.
Youth Engagement & Support
• Build positive, trusting relationships with participating youth.
• Provide guidance, encouragement, and mentorship to program participants.
• Support youth in developing coping skills, confidence, and goal-setting abilities.
• Promote accountability, respect, and positive decision-making.
Family & Community Engagement
• Maintain communication with parents/guardians as appropriate.
• Assist in planning family engagement events and program showcases.
Program Monitoring & Compliance
• Track program outcomes, collect data, and assist with reporting requirements.
• Ensure the program aligns with organizational policies and youth safety standards.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• High school diploma required; some college preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in residential care with supervisory experience.
• Experience with supervision, mentoring, or youth programming preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program needs.
• Ability to pass initial competency evaluation and ongoing professional development assessments.
• Willingness to participate in Centerboard’s multicultural awareness, diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings and initiatives.
Required Trainings and Skills:
Required trainings include CPR/First Aid, HIPAA, OSHA, Ethics and Boundaries, Trauma-Informed Care/Collaborative Problem Solving, and any other trainings required by Centerboard, Inc.
Employees must participate in assigned trainings for professional growth and maintain certification compliance through refresher trainings.
