Responsibilities
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions while ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed.
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and addressing any concerns.
- Assist with product demonstrations and upselling items to enhance the shopping experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area while ensuring all merchandise is properly stocked and displayed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations, including supervising junior staff when necessary.
- Utilize retail math skills to manage transactions and assist with inventory management as needed.
- Demonstrate effective phone etiquette when handling customer inquiries or concerns over the phone.
Requirements
- Previous experience in cashiering or retail sales is preferred, particularly in a grocery store setting.
- Strong basic math skills for accurate transaction processing and cash handling.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with customers.
- Experience in merchandising, stocking, and product demos is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being capable of supervising others when required.
