What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver - Full Route position at Center Point-Urbana Community School District?
Essential Functions
Under the general supervision of both the Director of Transportation, this position will perform the following
responsibilities and duties including any other duties as assigned:
Obeys all traffic laws
Complete CDL and physical requirements.
Maintain current Iowa School Bus Operators permit.
Comply with a random drug and alcohol testing program.
Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school busses.
Maintains student discipline.
Knowledge of District rules, discipline procedures, and other procedures as related to student conduct.
Reports undisciplined students to the Building Principal and/or Director of Transportation.
Keeps assigned bus clean inside and out.
Keeps to assigned schedule.
Attends schedules meetings.
Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defect and fuels own bus per directives necessary
Notifies the Director of Transportation in case of mechanical failure.
Discharges students only at authorized stops.
Exercises responsible leadership on all school trips.
Transports only authorized students.
Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
Implements Rules and Regulation as defined in Board Policy.
Requires that all route pickups comply with school Policy and Iowa Code.
Reports any adverse weather or road conditions.
Promotes good public relations in dealing with students and their parents/guardians including maintain
an effective level of communication when necessary.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid Driver’s License and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Acceptable driving record.
Self-motivated to accomplish duties without supervision.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to establish positive relationships.
