Bus Driver - Full Route

Essential Functions
Under the general supervision of both the Director of Transportation, this position will perform the following
responsibilities and duties including any other duties as assigned:
 Obeys all traffic laws
 Complete CDL and physical requirements.
 Maintain current Iowa School Bus Operators permit.
 Comply with a random drug and alcohol testing program.
 Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school busses.
 Maintains student discipline.
 Knowledge of District rules, discipline procedures, and other procedures as related to student conduct.
 Reports undisciplined students to the Building Principal and/or Director of Transportation.
 Keeps assigned bus clean inside and out.
 Keeps to assigned schedule.
 Attends schedules meetings.
 Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defect and fuels own bus per directives necessary
 Notifies the Director of Transportation in case of mechanical failure.
 Discharges students only at authorized stops.
 Exercises responsible leadership on all school trips.
 Transports only authorized students.
 Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
 Implements Rules and Regulation as defined in Board Policy.
 Requires that all route pickups comply with school Policy and Iowa Code.
 Reports any adverse weather or road conditions.
 Promotes good public relations in dealing with students and their parents/guardians including maintain
an effective level of communication when necessary.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
 High School diploma or equivalent.
 Valid Driver’s License and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
 Acceptable driving record.
 Self-motivated to accomplish duties without supervision.
 Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to establish positive relationships.
