OVERVIEW:

The Senior Career Advisor, in connection with the Center Manager, establishes the office tone for client services, support of staff and guidance of standard operating procedures at the Center. The Senior Career Advisor serves as an office team lead, mentors and trains all career advisors. The Senior Career Advisor carries a limited caseload. The Senior Career Advisor is skilled in motivational interviewing, individualized advising, and case management. This position reviews caseloads for the region ensuring that all CWI Career Advisors have the skills needed to ensure data integrity, quality enrollments, measurable skills gains, credentials and placements are obtained to meet performance goals.

DUTIES:

· Collects information about clients, using interviews, case histories, observational techniques, and other assessment methods.

· Identifies programs and services that will maximize support and opportunity for clients.

· Assesses barriers to employment and refers clients to the appropriate services.

· Interprets and explains information such as eligibility requirements, application details, and client obligations/expectations.

· Enrolls clients into appropriate programs and creates a plan to help them achieve their employment goals.

· Provides training direction, encouragement, motivation, and advice to prepare individuals for education and employment.

· Interacts with clients to assist them in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning action to achieve effective employment and/or educational development.

· Refers qualified clients to employers or employment services for job placement.

· Collaborates with other staff members, departments and partner organizations to place clients into good-paying jobs.

· Maintains regular contact with clients from their initial participation through the 4th quarter after their exit, providing support, encouragement, and resources to help clients attain education and training milestones, certifications, and long-term, good-paying employment.

· Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.

· Identifies developmental needs of staff and provides coaching, mentoring or training to improve their knowledge and skills

· Assists center manager in monitoring employee performance, providing feedback as needed to ensure productivity and adherence to company policies

· Trains all new CWI career advisors in job duties and company policies.

· Plan for or coordinate office services, such as equipment or supply acquisition or organization, maintenance, or security services.

· Maintain current knowledge of Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers, Interpreter Services, Equal Opportunity and Americans with Disabilities Act.

· Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

· Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; motivational interviewing techniques; and advising and case management methods.

· Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheet functionality, and managing electronic files and records.

· Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including databases.

· Active Listening—gives full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

· Critical Thinking—uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

· De-escalation—uses communication techniques to build rapport and connection with an agitated person to reduce the potential for violence.

· Service Orientation—actively looks for ways to help people.

· Complex Problem Solving—identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:

· High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

· 1Three years related experience and knowledge of employment, training or workforce development, preferred.

· Certified Workforce Development Professional certification preferred.

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
