This role is ideal for physicians awaiting full licensure who want hands-on experience in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Care
- Conduct resident assessments, physical exams, and follow-up evaluations under supervision.
- Assist in diagnosing and treating acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with the supervising physician and interdisciplinary team (IDT).
- Monitor resident progress, update documentation, and address changes in condition promptly.
- Participate in rounds, care conferences, and interdisciplinary meetings.
- Complete all required clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) accurately and timely.
- Ensure compliance with NYS DOH, CMS regulations, and facility policies.
- Maintain proper supervision logs and licensure documentation as required for Limited Permit status.
- Communicate updates, treatment plans, and changes in condition to residents and families in a professional, compassionate manner.
- Educate residents and families about diagnoses, medications, and procedures, under supervision.
- Work closely with nursing, rehab, dietary, social work, and administration to deliver holistic resident care.
- Maintain high standards of ethical practice and professionalism.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance audits.
- Graduate of an accredited medical school.
- Active Limited Permit issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
- Eligibility for full New York State medical licensure.
- Strong clinical judgment and willingness to learn in a supervised setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience or interest in geriatrics, rehabilitation medicine, or long-term care.
- Familiarity with EMR systems.
- Bilingual skills (not required but helpful).
- Ability to stand, walk, and move intermittently throughout the facility.
- Ability to assist residents, review charts, and work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
