Job Summary
Little Becomers Daycare is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and Christ-centered Daycare Assistant to join our growing team. As a ministry of Center Grove Church, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.
The ideal candidate has a genuine love for young children, a heart for serving families, and a desire to model the love of Christ through everyday interactions. This position is responsible for planning and leading age-appropriate activities, maintaining a safe and organized classroom, building positive relationships with children and parents, and working collaboratively with fellow staff members to provide exceptional care.
Duties
- Supervise and engage children during playtime, learning activities, meals, and rest periods to ensure safety and positive behavior.
- Assist lead teachers with planning and executing age-appropriate educational activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that adheres to health and safety standards.
- Support children with daily routines such as diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene practices in accordance with childcare regulations.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, behavior, and needs to foster strong partnerships.
- Follow all mandated reporting laws by observing children closely for signs of developmental or behavioral concerns and reporting appropriately.
- Implement classroom management strategies that encourage positive behavior and social skills among children.
- Assist in maintaining accurate attendance records and classroom documentation as required by licensing standards.
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by implementing individualized care plans under supervision.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying, or similar setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education best practices is essential.
- Certification in first aid and CPR (including pediatric first aid) is required or must be obtained upon hire.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special education needs is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies is desirable.
- Previous experience in toddler care or infant care enhances your ability to support diverse age groups within the daycare setting.
- Understanding of mandated reporting laws ensures compliance with legal requirements for child safety and welfare.
