Vice President of Membership & Annual Giving

Center for the Rights of Abused Children
Phoenix, AZ Full Time
POSTED ON 9/2/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/2/2026

Our Mission

Our mission's simple: every child deserves a safe, loving home, and we're making that real. The Center for the Rights of Abused Children brings Americans together to do more and change more for abused children—because every child deserves a safe and loving home. Our work has already protected more than one million children, and we won't stop until every child is safe and loved.

Position Overview

Join the Center for the Rights of Abused Children as our Vice President of Membership & Annual Giving, where you will own and grow the membership and annual giving side of our fundraising program. This role is focused on the broad base of our donor pipeline—acquisition, renewal, and upgrade of members and annual donors. We're looking for a strategic, entrepreneurial fundraiser who can bring new ideas to the table, build a real annual fundraising plan, and then execute it. This is a build-and-run role: you'll be as comfortable setting the strategy as you are getting a direct mail campaign out the door.

Key Responsibilities

  • Annual Fundraising Strategy & Planning: Build and own a comprehensive annual fundraising plan for membership and annual giving, including goals, calendar, channel mix, and revenue targets.
  • Revenue Budget Ownership: Build the annual revenue budget for membership and annual giving and take full ownership of hitting it—tracking pacing throughout the year and adjusting strategy as needed to stay on target.
  • Membership Program Growth: Design and grow the membership program end to end—new member acquisition, upgrade paths, and retention—bringing fresh ideas rather than just maintaining what exists.
  • Campaign Execution: Plan and execute direct mail, email, and digital fundraising campaigns, coordinating with outside vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Donor Retention & Renewal: Manage the renewal cycle and lapsed-donor reactivation for members and annual donors, with a clear stewardship cadence that keeps donors engaged.
  • Data & Performance Reporting: Track campaign and program performance, segment donor data to inform strategy, and report results to leadership with recommendations for what to do next.
  • Innovation: Identify and test new fundraising tactics—monthly giving, peer-to-peer, digital acquisition, and similar—to grow membership revenue over time.

Qualifications

  • Fundraising Experience: 5 years in annual giving, membership fundraising, or direct response fundraising, with a track record of growing a donor program.
  • Strategic & Entrepreneurial: Able to build a fundraising plan from scratch and bring original ideas, not just execute a playbook handed to you.
  • Budget Accountability: Comfortable building a revenue budget and owning it—forecasting, tracking against target, and course-correcting to make the number.
  • Execution-Focused: A reliable finisher who takes a plan from concept through to a completed, measurable campaign.
  • Data-Driven: Comfortable working with donor data and CRM systems to segment audiences, track results, and make decisions.
  • Mission-Driven: A deep, principled love for protecting abused children and a passion for making a lasting difference in their lives.

Benefits

  • Join a nationally recognized team with awards including the Norman Borlaug Humanitarian Award and the GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency.
  • This position offers a competitive salary and benefits package, providing you the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children across the country.
