Job Summary
The Surgical Referral Coordinator is responsible for the timely and efficient processing of surgical referrals, coordinating patient appointments and ensuring seamless communication between referring providers, surgeons, and patients. This role ensures that all required medical records are obtained prior to consultations, facilitating smooth transitions through the surgical process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (other Duties As Required)
Surgical Referral Processing: Ensure the accurate and timely processing of surgical referrals, coordinating with referring providers to receive the necessary documentation and medical records before the patient’s appointment.
Scheduling Surgical Consultations: Appropriately schedule consultations with surgeons across multiple practice locations, ensuring a timely and efficient process for both patients and providers.
Coordination with Providers: Communicate with referring physicians, surgeons, and patients to confirm appointment details, facilitate the sharing of medical records, and resolve any issues related to the referral process.
Follow-up and Documentation: Ensure that referral statuses are updated systematically for regular follow-up on scheduled appointments and maintain accurate records of the referral process.
CoFi Process Execution: Understand and execute the CoFi (Coordination of Care) process, ensuring that all steps related to surgical referrals are followed for optimal patient care.
Provider and Team Support: Assist referring providers and their teams with any questions or concerns related to the surgical referral process.
Training and Support: Train new team members on referral protocols and provide ongoing training for current team members to ensure adherence to best practices.
Team Interaction & Self Development
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, working effectively with team members to ensure timely and accurate referral processing.
Participate in ongoing training to stay current on surgical referral protocols, patient care standards, and technology updates.
Patient Interaction And Satisfaction
Respond to patient and provider inquiries regarding the surgical referral process in a timely, professional manner.
Ensure a high level of patient satisfaction by providing clear communication, addressing concerns promptly, and resolving any issues regarding the surgical referral process.
Serve as a first-level responder for any patient or provider complaints, escalating issues to leadership when appropriate.
Quality And Compliance
Maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity in processing surgical referrals, adhering to quality assurance standards.
Stay up to date with the latest patient access center protocols and best practices, ensuring compliance with all documented procedures.
