Position: Proposal Writer and Editor
Reports to: Managing Director, Learning and Donor Coordination
Scope: The Proposal Writer and Editor will work in close collaboration with the Managing Director, Learning and Donor Coordination, in supporting development of proposal responses to the NED and other donors, including RFPs, RFAs, and other bid opportunities. Their primary goal is to translate an organization’s capabilities into written proposals that meet the donors’ requirements and evaluation criteria while clearly communicating value, compliance, and differentiation. This position will also assist the Managing Director with review and editing of donors’ reports as well as provide ongoing training support to CIPE staff.
Responsibilities
- Participating in whiteboarding sessions, kick-off calls, and strategy discussions to define themes and proposal structure
- Assisting with writing and editing proposal responses that align with donor requirements and CIPE’s value proposition.
- Managing drafting and reviews with subject matter experts, including version control and stakeholder/donor feedback cycles
- Integrating AI to produce high-quality, tailored proposals efficiently.
- Maintaining content library, in collaboration with Knowledge Management, identifying reusable materials to reduce repetition and expedite the drafting process.
- Editing and proofreading donor reports to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency
- Provide ongoing personalized guidance and training support to program teams to improve writing skills, using CIPE Style Guide
- Adhering to appropriate CIPE, National Endowment for Democracy (NED), and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in fields like English, Journalism, Communications, or related areas required. Master’s degree preferred
- 4 -7 years of professional experience writing proposals, bids, or similar structured responses is required
- Experience with international development and topics consistent with CIPE’s mission, including anti-corruption and business ethics, democratic governance, business association advocacy, entrepreneurship preferred
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Strong conceptual, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with attention to detail
- Capable of managing multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
- Comfortable working in an environment with international objectives.
- Flexible and able to engage with individuals at all levels with strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, coordination, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong critical thinking and analytical skills

THE SALARY RANGE FOR THIS ROLE IS $83,500-$104,000
