Role Description The Workforce Program Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, DC, responsible for planning, implementing, and managing workforce development programs that support learners’ transition into meaningful careers. This role designs and oversees program models, timelines, and activities, coordinating with internal teams and external partners such as employers, education providers, and community organizations. The Workforce Program Manager tracks program performance, analyzes data, and prepares reports to ensure programs meet goals and funder requirements. Responsibilities include managing stakeholder relationships, facilitating meetings and workshops, and supporting outreach and recruitment strategies for program participants. The role also involves supervising or coordinating project teams, managing budgets and resources, and contributing to continuous improvement through feedback, evaluation, and best practices.
Qualifications
  • Experience designing, managing, and evaluating workforce development or education programs, including setting goals, tracking outcomes, and using data for decision-making.
  • Strong stakeholder and partnership management skills, with ability to collaborate effectively with employers, education institutions, community organizations, and funders.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including experience leading meetings, workshops, and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Proven project and budget management abilities, with capacity to manage timelines, resources, and multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and learner success, particularly for historically underserved or underrepresented communities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to work both independently and in team settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, public policy, workforce development, social sciences, or a related field; an advanced degree or equivalent relevant experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in K–12, higher education, workforce development, or nonprofit program management, preferably in an on-site, community-facing role.
