The Center for Independent Living in Central Florida, Inc. (CIL) is seeking a motivated and compassionate Bilingual Family Disability Navigator to support children, youth, and families with disabilities throughout Orange County, Florida.
This position provides advocacy, case management, transition support, skills training, and resource coordination to help individuals with disabilities and their families successfully navigate school, community, and employment systems. The ideal candidate is highly organized, a strong communicator in both English and Spanish, and passionate about empowering people with disabilities to achieve greater independence and success.
This role works closely with Orange County schools, families, employers, childcare providers, and community partners to connect participants with meaningful resources, supports, and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advocacy, case management, and resource coordination services to children, youth, and families with disabilities in Orange County
- Assist families in navigating school systems, community resources, and disability-related services
- Support families during IEP and/or 504 plan meetings as an advocate when appropriate
- Assist in identifying participant needs and connecting them to appropriate assessments and interventions
- Provide youth with transition support related to education, employment, and independent living
- Teach and reinforce independent living skills, self-advocacy, workplace readiness, and soft skills
- Assist with resume development, interview preparation, and basic employment readiness when appropriate
- Develop and deliver presentations, workshops, and group trainings for families and youth
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, employers, and community-based organizations
- Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and participant documentation
- Conduct research and provide referrals to community resources and services
- Conduct community outreach and engagement to identify, recruit, and enroll eligible program participants
- Build relationships with schools, childcare centers, healthcare providers, and community organizations to increase program awareness and referrals
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently with minimal direction
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community partners
- A passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and their families
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Rehabilitation, or a related field preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in case management, education, advocacy, youth services, or working with individuals with disabilities preferred
Additional Requirements
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel throughout Central Florida
- Must successfully pass a drug screening and Level 2 background screening
- Monday through Friday schedule with availability for occasional evenings and weekends
- Must be able to work independently in community-based settings
