Job summary: TheDirect Support Professional shall be responsible for the daily care, training, and supervision of Deaf/ID, Deaf blind/ID, non-verbal Intellectually disabled individuals.
Job relationships: Reports to the Director of HDS, Erie.
Responsibilities: The Direct Service Worker shall be responsible for the following:
Provide social development, communication, counseling, prevocational, physical health/hygiene assistance, and mobility training services for the program individuals.
- Utilize sign language, tactile signing, visual/gestural, and voice communication.
- Have a basic understanding of d/Deaf culture and/or willingness to learn.
· Assists with the development of the individual service plans and individual plans as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
· Maintain daily progress notes. Maintain d/Deaf/ID individual records as applicable.
· Participate in day program planning, scheduling, activity planning, creating, maintaining staff to deaf/ID individual ratios, and maintaining program binders.
· Participate in 24 hours of annual training and any other applicable training.
· Assist with deaf/ID individual intake process as needed.
· Participate in program related meetings and all other applicable meetings.
· Perform related work as required.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of a high school diploma, associates, or bachelor’s degree. Experience working with special needs population preferred.
· Skilled in basic sign language or willingness to learn.
· Experience working with persons who have an intellectual disability in an educational or rehabilitative setting.
· Physical and TB results within the year must be provided prior to start date.
· Act 33/34 and FBI clearances required prior to start date
Pay: $16.83 - $18.75 per hour
