ESOL Program Assistant - English/Spanish Bilingual Required

Description:Center for Family Life in Sunset Park ESOL Program Assistant position The Center for Family Life is seeking a full-time non-exempt Program Assistant to provide support to the English as a Second Language (ESL) Project. Duties include but are not limited to providing administrative support, assisting students, and ensuring accurate data and documentation across the program. Program & Student SupportConducting outreach activities Facilitating intake group sessions and revision of enrollment for each student; ensure each student's file is updated with appropriate signed documents, test scores, and level of class, preparing sign-in sheets for each class. Maintain updated student files, test scores, and placement information. Follow up with students regarding attendance and support their program completion. Assist students with accessing community resources (food pantries, legal referrals, housing support). Support students with public benefit applications (SNAP, IDNYC, health insurance) and basic forms. Connect students to case management or social services as needed. Provide guidance on low-cost or free services (adult education, immigration support, testing centers). Prepare class materials, create and update orientation slides on boarding materials packets, and classroom setups. Data & Waitlist ManagementMaintain the testing calendar. Collect and organize attendance, testing results, instructional hours, and benchmark data. Enter all required student information into online systems accurately and on time. Monitor and manage waitlists, conduct outreach when openings become available, and update NYC RISE. Team CollaborationWork closely with the Program Coordinator and ESL teachers to maintain required statistics and reporting. Assist staff with class logistics and student communication. Perform additional duties as assigned. Desired Qualifications:Associate's degree or higher, preferredBilingual English/Spanish requiredStrong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skillsstrong time management skills, including demonstrated capacity to complete assignments under strict deadlinesHigh level of organization, attention to detail, and follow-throughDependable, punctual, and able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to work with a diverse population. At least two years of experience in a similar setting, strongly preferredProficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel (includes facility with spreadsheets and tables).Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and demonstrated willingness to take initiative and assume other responsibilities as needed.
