We are a 134-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility committed to providing compassionate, resident-centered care. We are seeking an experienced and energetic Activities Assistant to join our team!
Position Summary
The primary purpose of our position is to assist the Director of Activities in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator to assure that an ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident is maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Assists in plans and provisions of patient care by visiting residents regularly to evaluate needs.
Document and report the nursing department any unusual or significant findings.
Encourage residents to take part in activities of daily living that will stimulate his/her potential, physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
Spend duty time with residents rather than with other facility staff.
Assist with and follow through on the establishment of resident care goals within the framework of the entire therapeutic team.
Document accurately, timely, and comprehensively.
Demonstrate initiative and follow through.
Participate in public relations, media coverage, marketing efforts and volunteer activities.
Follow facility van operation policy and procedure, if applicable.
Demonstrate correct safety techniques and comply with them and training principles consistently.
Respect and take care of facility equipment and is not wasteful of supplies.
Contribute to effective communication and pleasant working conditions.
Contribute to and promote positive resident and family relations.
Follow facility policies and procedures.
Continue growth and expand job knowledge.
Demonstrate leadership skills.
Maximize the potential of each employee supervised.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferably an Associates or Bachelors degree in Recreation or a related field. Completion of an accredited Activity Director Certification Program preferred.
Experience in health care setting is preferred.
