Requires Missouri School Psychologist or Psychological Examiner certification.

If new to the district, start date is August 5, 2025.
Regular teacher orientation start date is August 12, 2025.
Reports to: Director of Gifted Education
Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to (1) determine students' eligibility for gifted education services by assessing their cognitive ability, academic achievement, and creativity/reasoning/problem-solving ability.
Essential Functions:
- Participates as a team member in the evaluation process.
- Prior to gifted assessment, consults with school related to eligibility.
- Administers diagnostic tests and procedures to determine students' cognitive ability, academic achievement, and creativity/reasoning/problem-solving ability.
- Schedules pre-evaluation, post-evaluation and re-evaluation conferences in collaboration with parents, school staff and evaluation team.
- Participates in pre-evaluation conferences with parents and school officials to obtain pertinent background information, review school concerns, explain parental rights and responsibilities and secure permission to evaluate.
- Reviews student files, referral forms and gathers pertinent data outside agencies (when necessary).
- Creates assessment reports and speaks to parents, teachers, counselors and other interested and/or entitled parties.
- Serves as chairperson at assessment meetings and is responsible for ensuring that diagnostic decisions are made in compliance with DESE criteria and best professional practice.
- Maintains case records by preparing, editing, and proofing the final assessment report in a timely manner.
- Attends professional development opportunities, staff meetings and credit courses (when necessary) in order to keep abreast of new developments and maintain certification and/or licensure.
- Serves on committees making recommendations to coordinators.
- Reviews IEPs/504s, when necessary, to ensure appropriate accommodations are met during assessment.
- Consults with colleagues, supervisors and consultants regarding the gifted education needs of individual students.
- At the request of coordinators, provides inservice to observers, parent groups and students regarding assessment and related services.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the superintendent, assistant superintendents, directors, or coordinators.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Strength)

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's in psychology or related
- Certification as school psychologist or psychological examiner.
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- On two or three person teams, some of the aforementioned tasks may be the responsibility of other personnel or may be shared by the psychological examiner and others.
- Ability to work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the District, work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends and meet the physical demands of handling a variety of student needs.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
