Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Licensed Resident in Counseling or Supervisee in Social Work based in Winchester, VA. The professional in this role will provide outpatient mental health counseling services, including intake assessments, individual, couples, and family therapy, and treatment planning. Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate clinical documentation, coordinating care with supervisors and other providers, and adhering to ethical and legal standards of practice. The role involves participating in regular supervision, engaging in ongoing professional development, and contributing to a respectful and collaborative office culture. The counselor will support a client-centered approach, helping clients set goals, develop coping strategies, and monitor progress throughout treatment.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia licensure or registration as a Resident in Counseling or Supervisee in Social Work, with eligibility to provide outpatient mental health services under supervision.
• Strong counseling and clinical skills, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-informed therapeutic interventions.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, maintain professional boundaries, and work effectively with diverse clients and colleagues.
• Solid organizational and documentation skills, including timely completion of clinical notes, treatment plans, and compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
• Commitment to ethical practice, client-centered care, cultural humility, and respect for clients from varied backgrounds and identities.
• Ability to work independently while actively engaging in supervision, accepting feedback, and collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related mental health field from an accredited institution.
• Experience in outpatient counseling or similar clinical settings is preferred; familiarity with couples or family therapy is a plus.
• Comfort with basic technology and electronic health record systems to manage scheduling, documentation, and communication.
• Interest in continued professional growth through training, workshops, or certifications relevant to mental health counseling.
