The Crisis Intervention Co-Responder position will work within the Williamsport City Police Department to assist law enforcement with responses to individuals and families where a mental health and/or other social service need exists. The goal of the co-responder will be to divert individuals from criminal justice involvement in situations where a social services or crisis intervention would be more effective and appropriate.
The Crisis Intervention Co-Responder is an innovative program to provide Crisis Intervention Services in collaboration with police response. Services will include telephone and mobile assessment; crisis counseling, conflict resolution, referral and linking to community resources. Work in a supportive team environment while helping people access mental health, drug and alcohol, children and adult human services in Lycoming County.

The hours for this position will be flexible between days, evening and occasional weekends depending upon the need of the Williamsport City PD. We offer an extra $0.75 hr. shift differential for the evening shift and $1.50 shift differential for overnight shifts. This creates a great work-life balance. The starting base salary for this position is $21.54/hr. which applies to training, supervision and office work. We also offer a possible higher salary based on experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field. With major course work in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice or related field.
Must have minimum two years’ experience in Criminal Justice, Crisis Intervention and/or Mental Health Case Management.
Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, Act 33/34 and FBI clearances will be required. Individuals who have accessed human services are encouraged to apply. EOE/ADA

Must have a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Gerontology, Anthropology, Political Science, History, Criminal Justice, Theology, Nursing, Counseling, Education or a related field. (Degree/course work is Sociology, Social Work, Human Development and Psychology are strongly preferred) or
Be a registered nurse or
Have a High School diploma or equivalency AND 12 semester credit hours in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Gerontology or other Social Science AND 2 years of experience in public or private human services with 1 year of mental health direct care experience
- (Associates degree with minimum of 12 semester credit hours in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology and Human Development is strongly preferred)
- (2 years of direct mental health experience is strongly preferred)
Experience
One year experience in Crisis Services or in the mental health field preferred with a bachelors degree. See experience requirements above for applicants without a bachelors degree.
Licenses, Certificates or Clearances
Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances.
Valid Driver’s License.
Car Insurance Coverage Verification.
Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of de-escalation techniques, computer literate, knowledge of 302/201 process, and knowledge of county resources.

Salary : $22 - $100
