Position Summary: This position will serve as the coordinator for the Kittanning Empowerment Center. This position is responsible for maintaining daily activity schedules, making lunch, cleaning, and ensuring that all needed supplies and resources are available for the daily operation of the Drop-In Center.

Essential Functions:

  • Recruit, coordinate, and supervise volunteers to provide coverage of scheduled center activities at the Drop-in Center in Kittanning
  • Assist in arranging and coordinating activities and events, along with developing activity schedules and menus.
  • Maintain good working relationships with governmental agencies, community organizations, center advisory board members and center volunteers
  • Collect, organize, and report data needed to support and maintain the center functions
  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the agency
  • Attend all agency meetings and training as required.
  • Perform basic housekeeping duties to ensure the Center is clean and organized
  • Demonstrate and foster a positive, supportive culture at the Center; ensure the Center is a safe place for all.

Responsibilities:

CCR is seeking a casual (16-20 hours a week) Drop-In Center Coordinator for the KEC in Kittanning. The KEC is a consumer-run Drop-In Center providing support to individuals with mental health challenges in Armstrong County. The Drop-In Center Coordinator will oversee the operations, quality, and continued growth of the Drop-in Center. The Coordinator will promote mental health, wellness, empowerment, and self-advocacy for mental health consumers. The Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating opportunities for attendees to learn coping and life skills, along with fostering a supportive and compassionate environment in the center. The Coordinator will promote advocacy, coordinate center activities, conduct community outreach, develop a monthly activity schedule, collaborate with other community organizations, support and participate in the Community Support Program local and regional meetings, transport individuals utilizing the agency van, and complete administrative reports on a regular basis.

Work hours are Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The coordinator must maintain flexibility to accommodate the needs, programs, and activities of the center.

Qualifications:

  • A mental health consumer who is fully engaged in their own recovery and can serve as a role model for attendees.
  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED. Preferred experience includes one-year human service experience or experience in a mental health setting. Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances required; current driver's license and vehicle insurance required.
  • Candidate must have strong problem-solving skills and abilities; ability to manage multiple tasks; demonstrate effective communication; capable to work independently and in a small team environment; able to work effectively with persons differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, and abilities; and exhibit exemplary customer service and compassion.

Training in mental health and/or substance abuse recovery-oriented principles.

Knowledge of recovery tools for consumers of mental health and co-occurring MH/substance abuse.

Strong commitment to recovery concepts, and full integration of consumers in the community.

Significant recovery as demonstrated by at least 1 year without hospitalization longer than 72 hours and consistent social and health management skills and life management skills.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
