Position Summary: Responsible for providing direct individual and group trauma-informed mental health counseling and other appropriate mental health services to men, women and young adults enrolled in CCA’s Trauma Recovery Center (TRC). The TRC provides mental health and assertive case management services to individuals impacted by various forms of interpersonal violence. All participants receiving services at the TRC have histories of trauma and may also have concurrent medical, psychosocial, and substance use needs as well.

Direct Supervisor: Director of Alternative to Incarceration/Detention Programs

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct mental health, trauma, and other appropriate assessments for program participants. Assess participants’ mental status through interviews or observations and develop treatment plans. Assessment includes identifying presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status exam, and DSM-5 diagnosis.
  • Complete clinical intakes of new participants who are eligible for TRC services. Complete pre- and post-inventories to measure mental health outcomes.
  • Provide short-term individual and group psychotherapy, clinical case management, and crisis intervention.
  • In collaboration with participants, develop a comprehensive and individualized treatment and service plan that integrates knowledge from a wide range of human service resources.
  • Performs extensive community outreach and home visits to participants.
  • Performs outreach to a wide range of human service resources, which may include conducting community presentations. Remain abreast of new programs in Downtown and Central Brooklyn. Strong familiarity with additional services available through CCA to facilitate internal referrals, when appropriate. Facilitates referrals, coordination of services, and follow up.
  • Monitor participants’ treatment progress and maintain written records of all participant interactions in accordance with program(s) requirements. When applicable, maintain written records of interactions with participants’ family members.
  • Participate in clinical staff meetings, case conferences, and supervisory meetings.
  • Assists in processing Quality Improvement and data collection requests. May participate in program development meetings.
  • Participate in in-house and external training.
  • May provide supervision to clinical interns.
  • Bilingual Spanish Preferred

Qualifications

  • LMSW or LCSW
  • Commitment to and experience in working with adults and young adults with diverse cultural backgrounds who are involved, or at risk of involvement, with the criminal/juvenile justice system, HIV/AIDS, and/or substance use
  • Extensive knowledge of effective evidence based mental health interventions and types of modalities used to treat mental health disorders
  • Ideal candidates should be a compassionate analytical person who feels comfortable collaborating with other treatment and clinical staff.
