What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal - Remote Opportunity position at Center for Children's Advocacy?
Center for Children's Advocacy has an opening for a remote part-time paralegal position. The support staff will assist legal staff with outreach to clients and families, screening/interviewing, interpretation/translation, and maintaining case files. This role is flexible in regard to remote working and flexible start/finish times. The mission of the ICJP is to reduce the gap in legal representation of immigrant children and improve access to the systems that provide services to them through a variety of advocacy methods, including litigation.
Responsibilities Maintain case files in our Legal Files case management system Conduct screenings and intakes of potential clients Provide interpretation & translation support Provide information and referrals, as appropriate, and follow up with clients after services are provided Work in collaboration with legal staff to assign cases to attorneys on a pro-bono roster
Candidates should have: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills Strong organizational skills with consistent attention to detail Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems Two or more years of related experience Knowledge of trauma informed services is a plus Speaking, reading and writing fluency in Spanish and English is required.
Salary: $23.00-$25.00 per hour depending on experience Benefits: No benefits Duration of Assignment: 14-16 weeks Location: Remote Position, occasional in-person meetings in Bridgeport and New Haven, CT.
