This role manages relationships with creators, elected officials, and advocates; identifies opportunities for new partnerships outside of and across the progressive political landscape; leads Rise, the Center for American Progress Action Fund’s partner Slack community; and helps drive digital content performance in order to improve the performance and reach of progressive messaging content online.

The ideal candidate is skilled in relationship-building, digital strategy, and progressive advocacy, with a strong grasp of the online progressive ecosystem across platforms, creators, influencers, and organizations. The ideal candidate also has previous supervisory experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to strengthen external partnerships and expand CAP Action’s reach.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to translate policy into digital campaigns and optimize content distribution.
  • Manage communications and engagement within the partner Slack community Rise.
  • Identify and cultivate new partners, including progressive and nonpolitical voices, with measurable goals.
  • Lead assigned strategic partnership projects and serve as primary contact for key political partners.
  • Plan and execute partner events, briefings, and trainings.
  • Stay current on digital trends and apply best practices to improve partner content performance.
  • Represent CAP and CAP Action at external events.
  • Maintain direct lines of communication and reporting across American Progress, including with the Communications department at the direction of their supervisor.
  • Manage up to two staff members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in political advocacy, digital media, community organizing, or social media.
  • Strong relationships with digital and communications operatives throughout the progressive movement.
  • Deep understanding of progressive values, policy, and media dynamics.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with a wide range of partners—from elected officials and strategists to nonpolitical and unaligned communities.
  • Detail oriented and able to juggle multiple projects for different stakeholders, often in rapid-response or high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communicator with internal teams and external partners.
  • Thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments; proactive and adaptable.
  • Creative, innovative, and eager to learn new skills.
  • Commitment to the values and ideals advanced by American Progress.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
