The Role
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, the Sterile Processing Technician handles the decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment, plus case cart preparation for the OR. We're looking for someone detail-oriented and dependable who takes pride in precise, behind-the-scenes work.
What You'll Do
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments (steam and Sterrad) per policy, infection prevention guidelines, and manufacturer instructions, ensuring sets are complete and functioning
- Monitor and document sterilization and disinfection processes, including failure monitoring and recall procedures
- Prepare, fill, and retrieve contaminated instruments from patient care areas
- Issue, deliver, order, and stock medical surgical instruments and supplies for patient care areas
- Participate in ongoing education and training, and assist with other patient care needs as required
- Opportunity for cross-training in Medical Assistant (MA) functions, providing support within the PACU and OR settings as needed
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED required
- One year of recent, sterile processing experience required
- CBSPD or IAHCSMM Central Sterile Technician certification required at time of hire
- Strong attention to detail and comfort in a fast-paced perioperative environment
- Clear, professional communication with the OR team and patient care areas
Schedule
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with every other weekend and one holiday per year. This role is based at our Farmington, CT location.
