Duties
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing advanced skills such as four-handed dentistry and aseptic technique.
- Perform chairside assisting with precision, including taking and developing X-rays, medical imaging, and operating 3D scanners to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient flow efficiently by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring infection control protocols are strictly followed according to HIPAA standards.
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments and ensure safe treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
- Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and managing insurance claims with attention to detail in medical coding.
- Ensure a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control guidelines and maintaining aseptic techniques at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification or license required.
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a general or pediatric dentistry setting; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is highly valued.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology to accurately assist during procedures.
- Experience working with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient records efficiently.
- Skilled in taking X-rays, operating 3D scanners, and performing medical imaging with attention to safety standards.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic technique to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Excellent communication skills as a dental assistant and receptionist combined; ability to work effectively in a team using four-handed dentistry techniques.
