Our network serves over 1,400 students annually at our six campuses, located across the District, with a staff of over 250 dedicated individuals.

Center City PCS is looking for an experienced and collaborative Speech-Language Pathologist. The therapist will have a caseload of PK3-8th-grade students at one to two campuses and will work closely with other service providers, teachers, and families to ensure students' needs are met. We are looking for someone who believes in the mission and values of Center City and will strive to provide the highest-quality programming to the students they serve. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and experience working with a range of unique needs related to speech, language, and social communication disorders.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Evaluating, diagnosing, and prescribing appropriate services for students as part of the triennial special education reevaluation process , or those suspected of having a disability requiring speech-language services
  • Providing goal-oriented therapy using relevant, research-based, and culturally sensitive materials and methodologies
  • Providing short-term services to students through response to intervention, including small groups and classroom intervention
  • Assisting and guiding school staff in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments; providing training to school staff as needed
  • Collaborating with general education teachers, inclusion teachers, interventionists/specialists, and other related service providers to identify instructional strategies and supports that promote student success in all content areas
  • Clearly communicating student progress and areas of need to parents/guardians and providing strategies for at-home practice.e
  • Completing all required documentation as required by law or prescribed by the Director of Special Education, including quarterly IEP progress reports, session notes, IEP drafts, and formal evaluations
  • Assisting in the proper referrals of students to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate
  • Participating in school community events such as open houses or conferences

Requirements

  • Master's Degree and DCC certification (Required)
  • At least two years of experience (Preferred)
  • Experience/strength in phonemic awareness and reading remediation (Preferred)
  • Experience working in a PK-8 school setting (Preferred)
  • Experience working in an urban school (Preferred)
  • Highly organized with an attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and strong written communication skills
