Surgery Scheduler
JOB SUMMARY:
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible to coordinate and maintain scheduling for Centennial Spine and Pain patients and staff. This position will perform administrative tasks to aid in the support and operations of Centennial Spine and Pain.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. H.S. Diploma or GED.
2. Prior scheduling experience preferred.
3. Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office, MS Excel and scheduling program.
4. Basic medical terminology.
5. Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
6. Ability to carry out directions, read and write.
7. Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for coordinating and scheduling patient procedures and obtaining authorization for surgeries performed by CPRN providers in the Centennial Medical Surgery Center.
- Interact with patients, physicians, and staff members and outside facilities, providing them with accurate, timely, and responsive information to expedite patient care.
- Responsible for ensuring diagnosis codes and authorization numbers are added to the patient chart, referral, and appointment schedule.
- Add patient to surgery schedule.
- Provide insurance companies and attorneys with proper documentation for obtaining authorization prior to surgery.
- Obtain authorization for professional and facility billing and document information for the billing department.
- Create date of service on appointment schedule.
- Ensure appropriate billing information.
- Ensure that office visit note has been completed prior to procedure.
- Ensure that procedure is listed in patient plan.
- Ensure that patients have a professional and satisfying experience when visiting our offices and receiving our services.
- Check voicemails and emails throughout the day and respond in a timely fashion.
- Ensure patients are informed of surgery 2-3 days before procedure day.
- Remind the patient of pre-procedure requirements.
- Two weeks in advance check future appointments, prior authorization, psychiatric evaluations, and labs.
- By end of each month ensure all patients have referrals in place, physician information added to record, and accurate billing information in order to close billing.
- Provide assistance to patients and co-workers with a positive attitude.
- Accept the responsibility to cross train for other positions and provide support when requested.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Works indoors in Centennial Spine and Pain office.

Ability to perform the following tasks if necessary:
Ability to participate in physical activity.
Ability to work for extended period of time while sitting, standing and/or being involved in physical activity.
Moderate lifting.
Ability to do moderate bending, lifting and standing on a regular basis.
