Assistant Principal - Centennial Middle School

SUMMARY 

Under general supervision, materially assists the Principal fulfill their chief responsibility of promoting the educational well-being of each student within the school. Supervises certified and classified school personnel as designated by the Principal.

1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.

1. Serves as principal in the absence of the regular principal.

1. Proposes schedules of classes and extracurricular activities.

1. Supervises the preparation of student schedules.

1. Works with department heads and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests.

1. Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment, conducting inventories, maintaining records, and checking on receipts for such material.

1. Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.

1. Assumes responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.

1. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and works with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions.

1. Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deals with special cases as necessary.

1. Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.

1. Performs such record keeping functions as the principal may direct.

1. Evaluates certified teachers as directed by the principal.

1. Serves as a member of the Superintendent's Management Team.

1. Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. A valid Arizona Principal's certificate required.

1. A master's degree in education or educational administration required.

1. Three years’ teaching experience in education required.

School Principal 

EVALUATION: 

Performance will be evaluated by the Principal or Assistant Superintendent in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.

The District will post both the Assistant Principal and Dean of Students positions; however, only one position will be filled, based on the selected candidate's qualifications and the needs of the District. For the Dean of Students position, preference will be given to candidates currently enrolled in an Educational Leadership program.
