Join the proposed pathology team for a multi-year federal medical center contract in Memphis.
CENM Healthcare, a service-disabled veteran-owned healthcare staffing agency, is competing for a federal laboratory staffing contract in Memphis and is selecting its proposed team now. Work is expected to begin in April 2027. This gives interested candidates the opportunity to be considered for the team well before the anticipated start date.
What you will do:
Work in the anatomic pathology section under the direction of a pathologist. Prepare, describe and dissect surgical specimens. Prepare frozen sections and stained slides for intraoperative consultations. Assist with postmortem examinations. Help manage workflow in the gross room, frozen section room and autopsy suite. Assist with training residents, students and laboratory staff as needed.
What we are looking for:
Bachelor's degree in a health science field such as biology, microbiology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology or medical laboratory technology. Current Pathologists' Assistant certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required.
Candidates must live within 75 miles of Memphis and be able to provide three professional references. Selected candidates will need to meet the federal medical center's onboarding and credentialing requirements before starting work, including applicable BLS, TB screening, Hepatitis B documentation and background/security requirements.
Shifts may be up to 8 hours and may include evenings, nights and rotating weekends. Previous VA or federal hospital experience is a plus.
This will be a W-2 position with competitive hourly pay. Schedule and hours will depend on the facility's needs under the contract.
Benefits: If the contract is awarded, benefits will include 11 paid federal holidays, paid sick leave (up to 56 hours per year), and paid vacation (2 weeks after one year of service), plus health and welfare benefits or an equivalent hourly cash payment as required under the federal Service Contract Act.
