Position Responsibilities
The Technical Consultant – Building Automations System is responsible for optimization of a client energy program’s mechanical and control systems, and for training Energy Specialists on those systems. The Consultant works with Facilities and Maintenance Directors to address mechanical and control issues for buildings. The Consultant reviews HVAC control settings and adjusts according to the client’s guidelines & Cenergistic implementation standards.
The general duties and responsibilities for the Consultant include:
Hybrid position – requires travel four days per week, with one day of remote work.
- Install/Serve DDC (Direct Digital Control) controllers.
- Write sequences of operation for improved efficiency of HVAC equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various controls systems/multiplatform (e.g. Tridium, Carrier, Trane, Allerton, ALC and Johnson Controls, Siemens).
- Create BAS software to comply with predefine sequence of operations.
- Create BAS graphical representations of the buildings HVAC equipment.
- Troubleshooting, testing and commissioning BAS & HVAC systems and electronics.
- DDC Applications Programming, both graphical and text-based systems.
- Read and understand mechanical plans and wiring diagrams.
- Coordinate work with other trades (i.e., electricians, HVAC technicians, mechanical engineers, information technology, etc.).
- Document work and procedures including point to point checkout and commissioning.
- Address TCP/IP networks and RS-485 communications across multiple protocols including:
- Train energy specialist on HVAC and energy-consuming systems.
- Utilize industry technical knowledge base to advise on energy efficient operational strategies for building systems including HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air-handlers, variable refrigerant flow (VRF), variable frequency drives, etc. Experience in analysis of electric motors, pumping systems, compressed air, and other energy and water consuming systems.
- Prepare written reports, assessments, and recommendations, with a focus of return on investment for use by clients in assessing the benefits of implementing Cenergistic technical recommendations.
Desired Skills and Experience
- · Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Extensive knowledge of building systems from both a design and operational perspective.
- Knowledge of commercial building codes and standards.
- Five (5) years of engineering design and/or construction industry experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Engineer-in-training or P.E. license strongly desired.
- Project management experience a plus.
- Able to lead and teach others.
- Measurement & verification, commissioning or retro-commissioning experience a plus.
- Windows/PC skills, including competence with Microsoft Office Suite.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
