Job Title: Structural DesignerDepartment: EngineeringReports to: Design / Layout ManagerGENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOBIn collaboration with the engineering team and other stakeholders, the Designer develops designs by conceptualizing, creating, revising and finalizing "Best for Project" 3D designs and drawings of complex permanent mine facility infrastructure, temporary sinking gear, material handling, process systems, and above ground facilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESHEALTH AND SAFETYWork in compliance with all health and safety rules and regulations for CementationBe aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report same to Health and Safety DepartmentEnsure all applicable safety codes and regulations are met by appropriate design and use of technologyBe a champion for safety, advocating safe behaviour while incorporating safety into the designs produced by the groupGENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis description lists the core responsibilities and duties of the position. Additional duties deemed to be within the incumbent's capabilities, on an as-required basis, might be assigned by management.Generate 3D designs of surface and underground mine facilities and infrastructureGenerate preliminary sketches, general arrangement drawings, structural drawings and details, material take-offs or other deliverables that illustrate design intent, while conforming to internal engineering and design standardsCollaborate with internal multidisciplinary design, engineering, project management and operations teams to produce "Best for Project" designs that are safe, constructible, operable and maintainableComplete designs within designated schedule and budget as defined within project requirementsCheck designs and drawings for function, fit-up, and compliance to internal and regulatory standards both on work you perform and work within the officeDevelop and grow positive relationships with teams both internal and external to engineeringAdditional weekly or daily hours, while infrequent, are anticipated and will be required when needed.
