About CellGate

CellGate secures property access for multifamily communities, HOAs, commercial sites, and single-family homes across North America. Our Watchman controllers, video intercoms, and the TrueCloud Connect platform tie every entry point together under one login. We are the only company in the industry with dual-network flexibility — cellular LTE and wired internet — so our solutions work wherever a property is.

We are building our in-house AI capability inside Product Development, and we are hiring an AI/ML Engineer to lead that work hands-on.

The Role

You will design, build, and run the AI systems that turn CellGate data into working solutions — for the business and for the field. You will own the pipeline end to end: move data through our Microsoft Fabric lakehouse, build and deploy models (including local models that run close to the data), and monitor the health of the device fleet in production. This is a builder’s role. You will write the code, ship the models, and watch them run.

You report to the Director of Product Development and work closely with our Information Services, Salesforce, business intelligence, Support Services, and Learning & Development teams. Product Development owns device firmware; you own the data and the intelligence that ride on top of it.

What You Will Do

Data engineering and Microsoft Fabric

• Build and maintain data pipelines in the Microsoft Fabric lakehouse — ingestion, transformation, and modeling across device telemetry, Salesforce, and operational sources.
• Design a clean, governed data foundation that analytics, models, and reporting all draw from.
• Partner with the BI team to keep Power BI datasets accurate, fast, and trustworthy.

AI and LLM application development

• Build AI solutions that solve real problems — predictive analytics, retrieval-augmented generation, agents, and internal tools that staff actually use.
• Fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy local models where privacy, latency, or cost make a hosted model the wrong choice.
• Translate requests from Sales, Support Services, Operations, and Finance into shipped, measurable AI features.

MLOps and device health monitoring

• Deploy models to production and keep them healthy — versioning, monitoring, retraining, and drift detection.
• Build device fleet health and monitoring: surface telemetry from Watchman controllers and connected solutions, flag anomalies, and predict failures before a resident is locked out.
• Stand up dashboards and alerts that let Information Services and Product Development see fleet health at a glance.

Analytics and business intelligence

• Turn raw data into decisions: build predictive and descriptive analytics that inform strategy, operations, and product direction.
• Document your work and mentor the wider team as CellGate’s AI practice grows.

What You Bring

• Hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience. You have built pipelines, lakehouses, or semantic models in Fabric and can stand up a governed data foundation on your own.

• Local model experience. You have run open-weight or on-premises models — deployment, fine-tuning, quantization, or inference optimization — not just API calls to a hosted service.

• 4 to 7 years building data or software systems in production, with 2 years hands-on in ML/AI — including recent work with LLMs and local models. We care about shipped work, not years on paper.

• Strong Python, plus fluency with modern ML and LLM tooling (PyTorch or TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain or similar orchestration frameworks).

• SQL and data modeling, with the judgment to design schemas that stay clean as they scale.

• MLOps fundamentals: you have deployed, monitored, and retrained models in a live environment.

• Clear communication. You explain technical work in plain language to people who are not engineers.

Nice to Have

• Device telemetry, IoT, or fleet-monitoring experience — ideally with connected hardware in the field.

• Azure services beyond Fabric (Azure Machine Learning, Azure OpenAI, Azure Functions); CellGate is hosted by Microsoft Azure.

• Power BI development and DAX.

• Salesforce data experience.

• Edge deployment — running models on constrained or embedded hardware.

• Access control, security, or proptech industry background.
