Job Overview
Celle Asset Management is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Senior Accountant to join our team in Salt Lake City. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of approximately 20 properties located across multiple states.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple properties and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy. This is an in-person position that will work closely with property management, ownership, and company management.
Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation and analysis of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) in our property management software (Resman).
- Perform detailed account reconciliations for general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and automation initiatives to streamline workflows.
- Reconciles bank accounts to match with financial statements.
- Work with property managers to resolve accounting and payment issues.
- Prepare journal entries, analyze financial data using Excel, and ensure proper documentation for audit purposes.
- Maintain compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist in internal audits to uphold financial integrity.
- Utilize Resman for efficient data entry and reporting.
- Contribute to process improvements by automating routine tasks within accounting systems and enhancing data accuracy.
- Assist with other priorities of the company in accounting and other related areas.
Skills
- Manage the accounting functions for approximately 20 properties across multiple states.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements for assigned properties.
- Process accounts payable, including reviewing invoices, coding expenses, obtaining approvals, and ensuring timely payment.
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other property-level accounts.
- Prepare monthly owner reporting packages and other financial reports.
- Review property financial activity for accuracy, completeness, and unusual or unexpected items.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounting records for each property.
- Coordinate with property managers and management to resolve accounting questions and discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as requested.
- Support audit, tax, lender, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist management with special projects, analysis, and other accounting-related duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2 years of accounting experience; property management or real estate accounting experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial statements.
- Experience with accounts payable, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple properties, priorities, and deadlines independently.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard accounting software (Resman a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, in-person environment.
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will be someone who takes ownership of their work, is comfortable working independently, and understands the importance of accuracy and timeliness in property accounting. Experience in real estate or property management accounting is a significant plus, but we are also open to candidates with strong general accounting experience who are eager to learn the property management business.
Other Duties
This position may be asked to perform additional accounting, financial, administrative, or analytical duties as needed to support the company and its properties.
Work Location
This is an in-person position based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
