We are seeking a highly creative, culture-obsessed Creative Footwear Material Designer to join a high-profile, 13-month special project. In this role, you will lead material design across in-line products, high-concept partnerships, signature models, and core footwear lines.
Sitting at the intersection of performance, streetwear, and youth culture, you will be responsible for translating brand identity into groundbreaking material concepts. We are looking for someone who doesn't just know footwear design, but deeply understands sneaker culture, skate heritage, and the evolving streetwear landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Material Concepting & Design: Drive footwear material design across multiple segments of a line, including core inline models, athlete signatures, and tier-one partnerships.
- Culture & Brand Alignment: Infuse skate culture, streetwear trends, and sneakerhead insights directly into material palettes, textures, and colorways.
- End-to-End Execution: Manage material development across uppers, leathers, canvases, synthetics, wovens, meshes, and specialized footwear trims.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with footwear designers, product managers, and technical material developers to balance creative vision with business viability and technical performance.
- Design Process & Storytelling: Present design concepts, material boards, and narrative-driven proposals that showcase high taste level, experimental process, and brand evolution.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5 years of dedicated experience in Creative Footwear Material Design.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Design, Material Design, Industrial Design, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
- Culture Fit: Deep interest, knowledge, and connection to Skateboarding, sneaker culture, and streetwear.
- Line Building: Proven experience designing materials across multiple segments/price-points of a product line.
- Portfolio Requirements: A portfolio demonstrating: recent creative footwear material work.
