Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, bathrooms, hallways, common areas, and administrative spaces using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
- Handle laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and clothing in accordance with healthcare standards.
- Adhere to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines and safety protocols during all cleaning and manual handling tasks to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, steam cleaners, and other janitorial tools to maintain facility cleanliness.
- Manage chemical agents responsibly by handling cleaning solutions and disinfectants following proper chemical handling procedures to ensure safety for staff and patients.
- Follow strict sanitation procedures aligned with healthcare infection prevention and control practices to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices when moving furniture, supplies, or laundry carts to prevent injury.
- Maintain detailed records of cleaning schedules, sanitation activities, and equipment maintenance to ensure compliance with health standards.
Requirements
- Prior experience in healthcare facilities housekeeping, custodial work, or commercial cleaning is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to workplace safety and chemical handling is essential.
- Experience with laundry operations within a healthcare or similar setting is advantageous.
- Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely while understanding environmental services best practices.
- Strong manual handling skills with the ability to perform heavy lifting safely in accordance with safety protocols.
- Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with patients, staff, and visitors when needed.
- Familiarity with hospital or healthcare infection prevention measures and sanitation standards.
