Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, procedures, and scripts for electrical and power systems.
- Conduct functional, performance, and reliability testing of power electronics systems, including DC/DC converters and high-current low-voltage designs for CPU, GPU, ASIC, FPGA, and etc.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve board- and system-level issues identified during testing or in production.
- Work closely with design and manufacturing teams to support validation, qualification, and problem resolution.
- Simulate and measure system performance using tools such as PSPICE, LTSPICE, and other relevant measurement equipment.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test data, and provide clear reporting to stakeholders.
- Recommend improvements to enhance system performance, reliability, or manufacturability.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues and verify component/system performance.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, standards, and testing methodologies.
- Hands-on experience in test engineering or validation of power board and system racks or embedded electronics.
- Familiarity with DC/DC converter topologies such as intermediate bus converter (IBC), non-isolated/isolated DC/DC converter, and Buck converter, high-current low-voltage designs, and power electronics theory.
- Experience with test equipment such as passive/active/differential probes, oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzer, data acquisition systems, impedance analyzer, and bode plot measurement equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues and interpret schematics and technical documentation.
- Proficiency/familiar with circuit simulation and analysis tools (PSPICE, LTSPICE, or equivalent).
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively across design, manufacturing, and project teams.
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office and lab environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- 7 to 10 years of related experience with 3 to 6 years of relevant test engineering, hardware validation, or equivalent experience.
- 4 to 6 years of related experience with 1 to 3 years of relevant test engineering, hardware validation, or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
