Job Summary
This role is designed for candidates with foundational technical skills who demonstrate aptitude and willingness to learn advanced systems in a structured, mentored environment. The Junior EIST does NOT perform independent system design certifications, or project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of A/V and electronic systems supporting intelligence and mission operations.
- Support CAT 6 and fiber optic cabling under supervision.
- Perform basic troubleshooting using approved test equipment (e.g., multimeters, cable testers)
- Assist with system documentation, inventories, and basic diagrams.
- Support site surveys, equipment staging, and government-directed technical tasks.
- Follow all safety, security, and configuration management procedures.
- Foundational understanding of computer hardware and peripheral setup.
- Basic familiarity with small-office or home network concepts.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a supervised environment.
- Strong desire to learn and develop advanced technical skills.
- Professional conduct in secure government facilities.
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current CompTIA Network (Net ) or Security certification
- Applicable A/V certification (BICSI, AVIXA, Extron, or Crestron) before starting on contract.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work performed in secure facilities and deployed environments.
- Ability to work on ladders, cable trays, and in confined or construction-type spaces.
- Willingness to work OCONUS (Guantanamo Bay, Cuba)
The junior EIST works directly under an EIST Lead Technician and participates in a structured development pipeline intended to build proficiency in:
- A/V integration
- Network infrastructure support
- Fiber handling and termination (training-level)
- Advanced troubleshooting techniques.
