Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing billing processes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This role requires proficiency in medical coding systems, billing procedures, and electronic health record (EHR) systems to support efficient revenue cycle management and maintain precise medical records.
Duties
- Review and analyze medical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes
- Ensure accurate coding of diagnoses, procedures, and treatments in accordance with current coding standards
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies using EMR/EHR systems
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection processes
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation as needed for proper coding
- Monitor billing workflows to ensure timely processing of claims and payments
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classification, and ICD coding standards
- Experience with medical billing processes and medical collection procedures
