Responsibilities
- Assist with animal restraint, handling, and behavior management to ensure safe procedures for pets and staff
- Support veterinary procedures including surgery preparation, medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and aseptic techniques
- Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning kennels, and maintaining clean treatment areas to uphold hygiene standards
- Handle front desk duties including client communication, appointment scheduling, record keeping, and billing support
- Contribute to laboratory work by collecting samples, processing tests, and recording results accurately
- Maintain detailed medical records and ensure proper documentation of treatments, medications, and procedures
- Support emergency critical care cases by monitoring vital signs and assisting with intensive animal care as needed
Skills
- Proven kennel experience combined with veterinary clinic experience; equine experience is a plus
- Strong animal handling skills across different species including dogs and cats; familiarity with pet care routines
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior to assist effectively in clinical settings
- Experience with laboratory procedures, medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and aseptic techniques
- Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners about animal welfare and treatment plans
- Ability to perform cleaning duties diligently while adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols
- Familiarity with record keeping systems and laboratory equipment used in veterinary practice
