What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor, Team Captain position at Celanese?
Overview:
Provide leadership to the 24/7 operations team to meet both leading and lagging measures and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are part of the core's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model Celanese leader expectations and actively coach chemical process experts to improve overall operational efficiency.
- Ensure achievement of the four core principles: Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, and Engagement in fulfilling the production schedule and developing the team.
- Set high expectations for personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, safety rules, quality standards, procedure adherence, and equipment respect.
- Field presence, safety focus, and leader of the team; provide knowledge, make decisions after team troubleshooting efforts, manage work orders, and address emergency and security risks.
- Coordinate Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) updates with Learning Facilitators.
- Coordinate team member participation and participate in MOC, PHA, RCA sessions.
- Ensure first-time-right product quality and take immediate action to resolve issues.
- Communicate and escalate gaps if the schedule cannot be executed. Share information from the core team (e.g., toolbox briefings).
- Perform proper handovers to the next Team Captain and Daily Executional Leader on emerging Quality, Environmental, or Reliability issues.
- Facilitate Safety, Quality, Reliability, and Efficiency (SQRE) huddles.
- Evaluate, execute, and provide feedback on the production schedule.
- Work with the 24/7 team to maximize production output.
- Engage in daily activities with each chemical operator and understand constraints preventing their success. Help them overcome these constraints to their proficiency level.
- Consider variables from multiple sources, evaluate, and plan a path forward. Understand details before proceeding.
- Give and receive regular feedback to develop people and self. Address performance issues through coaching.
- Collaborate with Learning Facilitators to create training plans for each process expert.
- Identify when training is needed and ensure opportunities for team members to acquire necessary knowledge.
Requirements:
- Able to work rotating shifts.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience required, with 3 years in chemical manufacturing preferred.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to build strong relationships and align with the team.
- Strong influential leadership skills required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced coaching skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with SAP skills preferred.
- Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple people, tasks, and processes.
- Self-directed, self-starter with ability to operate and prioritize in ambiguous situations.
- Shows highest levels of ownership and initiative.
